Surat-based diamond industrialist Bhikhabhai Keshubhai Dhamelia has donated Rs 30 crore for the construction of Parvati temple near Somnath temple in Prabhaspatnam.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the virtual foundation stone of the Pravati temple yesterday. PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and CM Vijay Rupani lauded Bhikhabhai Dhamelia's generosity during the program. He had earlier donated a plate made of 108 kg gold to the Somnath temple in 2012. Parvati temple is going to be constructed from marble wearing marble of North Gujarat. According to an estimate, the temple will be ready in three and a half years. It will have a 71-foot top and dance porch with 44 carved columns.

Bhikhabhai Dhamelia promised to build a Parvati temple during his visit to the Somnath temple, after seeing the remains of the ancient Parvati temple next to the present Somnath temple. Bhikhabhai has 3 diamond factories in Surat in which about 5 thousand workers work. He along with his family joined the ground breaking ceremony of Parvati temple in Prabhas Patan.
